At the second annual NOSC United Against Fentanyl: Opioid Awareness Rally & Memorial in downtown Napa, the community gathered to honor loved ones lost to the opioid crisis and to learn how to prevent future deaths. The event was held on National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day and was organized by the NOSC Fentanyl Awareness Task Force.
The rally included speakers, a unity walk, and a memorial with photos of those who have tragically lost their lives to opioid poisoning and overdose. Advocates personally affected by illicit fentanyl shared their stories to raise awareness of the scope of the problem and the effect on our community. Speakers also provided important information about resources available, such as medication-assisted treatment and recovery services.
The event offered attendees free naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and other educational information. Speakers concluded by encouraging everyone to turn their grief into action by educating others and advocating for community solutions.
